To help you locate and contact other parents and children victimized by the same county as yourself, there are seven (7) different methods offered here:
1 - There are various commercial "online court records" services out there, letting you instantly access divorce, paternity, and similar cases, and see the actual parties' (mom's and dad's) names, addresses, and even phone numbers. For example, there is a popular service covering many Indiana counties' online court records called "Doxpop" - the point being, is that you can probably find similar online services covering various counties' court records in your state, too.
2 - In addition, and with the ever-progressive use of electronic means nowadays, the court records of many counties are often made available by the local governments themselves. For example, again using Indiana, the current court records of cases in Tippecanoe County are available for free online - the point being, again, is that you might be lucky enough to find a similar online service covering the court records for your own county, too. So, that's another way to get names, addresses, and phone numbers of other parents and children victimized by your county.
3 - Although typically requiring a little more work, another method is to look through the "legal" or "court records" sections that are typically printed within every county's newspaper(s). Simply look at these newspaper sections, to find the last week's various court events in cps, divorce, paternity and other custody cases, and getting the names of the parties in the relevant types of cases (look for cases where there were any orders or agreements on custody, support, visitation, and/or etc.). Then, taking those names of noncustodial parents, use an online "people finder" service, like "InfoSpace" or "ZabaSearch", to get their addresses and phone numbers. Nowadays, the newspapers of most counties are already online, and even searchable through past issues. There are many online lists of links to newspapers. One such link is found on Disastercenter. On that page, scroll down just a bit, until you see the drop-down list starting with "Alabama Online Media" - just select your own state, and click "Go" for a new page with links to many of the newspapers, TV stations, and radio stations in your own state, hopefully including your own county's newspaper. There are many others, like ThePaperboy, NewsLink, OnlineNewspapers, and more. You should even just do an Internet search for the exact county newspaper you are looking for.
4 - Also, there is the "brute force" method of just looking on the four main "group" websites (Yahoo, AOL, MSN, and Google), searching for any "county-specific" groups of any kind, and then posting a relevant message to those found groups, mentioning that you are looking for noncustodial parents and/or CPS victims in/from that county. Here's the links for Yahoo Groups, AOL Groups, MSN Groups, and Google Groups. So, then, just get on each one, and do a "search" for your county name - i.e., for example, doing a search on Yahoo groups using "Hendricks County Indiana" will give about a dozen results...
5 - MySpace, MySpace, MySpace... and, all of the similar people-networking sites out there (YouTube, Facebook, and all of the other large social networking websites totaling membership near 1/2 Billion people...).
6 - Lastly, because it just takes a lot longer than the other methods above, there is always using the filing of a "Freedom of Information Act" request - the point being, to force your local county clerk to cough up her current Title IV-D child support obligor parent records - and, usually in an electronic form. Some of you may be familiar with this, since we passed out templates and instructions last Fall on this procedure. Many people failed or didn't know how to follow through, after initial denials, but there *were* actually some successes, too, and now those freedom fighters are armed with tons and tons of local noncustodial contacts information. See our FOIA page for more details. I am not sure if there is an equivalent method for CPS victims yet... still looking.
7 - THEN, THERE IS THIS NEW BIG HARVESTING METHOD... Click here.
Actually, there is no reason not to combine the above methods, especially when you can get a local team of people on it...
